To check if an entered date is valid, a java.text.SimpleDateFormat is used with Dutch settings :

Capital 'M' means month. Don't use 'm' for a date, because that signifies minutes.

The number of symbols determine the effect : Four 'y' 's means : the year in full.

29-2-1960 is acceptable, for instance.

We don't want it to go easy on us .

The actual checking is performed ....
