In HTML there's a PARAM for each applet instance.

Notice the syntax : between the APPLET and the /APPLET tags.

In the init method we retrieve the parameter value as String.

Check to make sure we've really got it,....

before using it.

getParameter always returns either a reference to a String or null, if it can't be found.

If you want parameters other than Strings, you'll have to convert the String.

PARAMs may be enumerated.

In Javascript you can generate HTML, so you can generate PARAMs, too, and thus affect the workings of an applet, albeit not dynamically.
